Dave provides M&C with Academic support with 44 years of industrial experience in various roles such as Metallurgical Technician, Metallurgist, Foundry Manager and Technical & Quality Manager. Dave is part of the course team setting up and writing course material for Metallurgy and provides advice on other aspects.
Qualifications - City & Guilds Metallurgical Technician Certificates Parts 1 & 2.
Professional Engineering Institutions - Institute of Case Metal Engineers (ICME), PMICME since 1999, FICME in 2012. Three terms of Office as North East Branch President and currently Branch Social Secretary.
Previous Experience - One of Dave's achievements was to introduce and design process routes for Stainless Steels including Duplex & Super Duplex. Gained NORSOK qualifications to M650 Rev. 2 for MDS D46 (4A Duplex) and MDS D56 (5A & 6A Duplex). Also gaining approval of Manufacture Certification from Lloyds, GL, DNv, BV & ABS and upgrading the ISO 9001 accreditation to ISO 9001:2000.
Through his industrial experience, Dave supervised production and planning in the Pattern Shop, Moulding and Melting Departments.
Quality Management Experience - Dave achieved the installation of a new production control software which involved reviewing, selecting and implementing the system. He has successfully upgraded a Quality Management System to meet the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 and upgraded the NORSOK qualification to M650 Rev 4 and MDS D46 (A4 Duplex) & MDS D56 (5A & 6A Super Duplex).
Dave also assisted in the design, layout and all associated melting requirements together with recruiting and training melting personnel for a new foundry, which also gained a separate ISO 9001 accreditation. Within a 4-month period the installation and implementation of the production control system was achieved and the first steel had been poured.
During efficiency savings, Dave successfully integrated and combined two separate quality systems into one and after a full re-certification audit accreditation was awarded.
