The course will provide the delegate with theory, knowledge and application with hands-on experience by reviewing the presentation and examining the metal samples. You will undertake visual, macro examinations and understand the importance of record keeping your analysis data which you will have gathered during your investigations in this lecture.

The first of a 2 part series to introduce you to the metallurgical knowledge on the effects of different carbon content on microstructures

You will understand the variations in change in microstructure effecting the grain structures, shape, size and orientation by the effects of heat treatment..

After completing this Part 1 course, you can then commence on our Part 2 course and visually examine the microstructures.

This is Part 2 in the series which you will carry out visual investigations using microscopes. To undertake this course you will have firstly completed Part 1.

This course will maximise your understanding by practical examinations to analyse what the different influences of chemical compositions are upon mechanical deformation and the types of heat treatment that effect steel.

If you have not considered why there is a need to follow a metallurgical process route or method to solve metallography problems and failures, then this course will reinforce the need.

If you simply want to gain new knowledge and skills to complement skills in your workplace to undertake metallurgical investigations, then this is a good starting point.
