Mathematics 2 - Industrial Applications
Course Overview
After completing Mathematics for Engineering 1, this Module extends and develops the engineer's use of Calculus and Statistics with a view to the modelling and solution of engineering problems by analysis.

Your engineers will develop mathematical abilities in the metallurgical sciences by providing relevant background knowledge, how this is applied In key metallurgical mechanisms and processes.
​
Students will identify scientific principles and supporting the development of independent study skills with appropriate evaluation and research.
This module is linked to the engineer's academic programme and vocational field with the higher education environment, they will extend their mathematical knowledge in support of metallurgical sciences.
​
This module will allow the student to apply this short application of knowledge and skills into their own industrial context within the workplace.
Course Content
Students will be supported throughout their distance/blended learning programme via their designated Lead Academic, web-conferencing facilities, workshops and their in-house Industrial Mentor.

Students will be in full time employment within the industry some knowledge and experience of metallurgy processes.
Functional Skills in Mathematics and English (Level 2)

To have undertaken Metallurgical Science 1 & 2 and Research Methods, Independent Study Modules and Mathematics for Engineering 1 or equivalent covering all the elements set out in the Course Modules.
​
Students will provide a copy of their CV, qualifications and any other training certificates together with a letter of application explaining how the course will benefit them and their future career goals. This information, along with visits to the workplace will be assessed by our Admissions Team.
