About Us

We are an organisation providing training specifically for the manufacturing engineering industry, and we have set out with one aim in mind ‘Success through Partnership’.  We have seen the critical need for training within the metallurgy and castings industry that is outside the ‘institutional norm’.

‘Success through Partnership’ is a joint combination of interaction with employers, academics and other educational institutions where M&C listens to the industry and provides new training programmes which may be unattainable through other providers via online/distance learning.

M&C's new infrastructure of professional support and technical services provides a personal feel aimed at supporting the student through their cohort team/group development – making learning together stimulating.

Our students will learn via an online virtual learning environment containing course materials, research papers, resources and a hub to liaise with their designated Academic.  M&C’s online virtual support system, Moodle, is a resource which is interactive, supporting the student's learning experience and allowing them to learn at their own pace within the set parameters of the Semester schedule.

The personal touch from M&C’s Academics through Teaching, Learning and Assessment strategies, linking to their progress and success of the part-time students' development, will be supported by various learning methods ie video conferencing, phone tutorials, assignments etc (possibly Saturday studying and short residential days).

M&C’s innovative approach to our programmes, Return-to-Learn and First Step packages, Communications Skills Workshop, Independent Study and Industrial Mentor Training are, in their entirety, a new concept and are supported by M&C’s very experienced Academic teams.

M&C prides itself in having a range of individuals with diverse experience working within it.  We have Academics with decades of higher education and industry knowledge supporting students on a 1-2-1 basis via occasional site visits, regular video conferencing and in-portal support.

Richard Brown, managing director, formerly from Bradford College where he was Head of Metallurgy, formed M&C to deliver training courses for further education for the Metallurgist, bringing with him many of his colleagues to M&C.

The team have developed and continues to develop programmes which are 'fit for the purpose' supporting the career advancement of the metallurgist.

Our Administration and IT teams will be on hand to ensure the student is on track with their learning and will flag up any issues of uncompleted work to the tutor, together with additional assistance with Moodle.

The need for a flexible part-time online course within the metallurgy and castings manufacturing engineering sector is now upon us and here at M&C want to help your employees succeed.
